Amanda Long - Intro

Hello there!

My name is Amanda, and I am on my way to getting a degree in cellular biology.  I am originally from south Florida and have been here for five years. Most people always ask why I would stay in Missouri when I grew up on the beach, and the answer is always the same. I have a much younger brother and sister who live here in Springfield. We grew up twelve hundred miles apart, and now I cannot imagine not seeing them a few times a week! My brother is sixteen, and my sister is thirteen. They are incredibly annoying but also incredibly cool!

In just two months, I am marrying my very best friend. My fiancé and I live here in town with our dog Fiona, who is half pug-half mutt. She is named after the character in the book, "The Giver," not after "Shrek."

When I am not juggling working full-time, school, and planning a wedding, I also serve on the Board of Directors for a community center here in town. It is, by far, one of the most challenging things I have ever taken on, but I love every minute of it. The Center is where my heart is, and I feel so privileged to be able to serve the community.

That's pretty much the cutest dog I've ever seen! It's cool that you're studying cellular biology. I'm in my first college bio class right now and it is SO difficult.

I can only imagine how hard it would be to manage all those things at once. It definitely seems like you have a lot on your plate. Congrats on the wedding. I wish you the best in your marriage and for this semester.

Hi Amanda!

What a busy lady you are. I admire that you spend time helping the community. We need more people like you in the world!

I also enjoy the sciences, mainly biology and psychology. Amazing how we are built as animals!

Congratulations on your wedding. What a fun and special time this is for you. May you and your best friend make many wonderful memories together!
