Ali Gibson Intro
I was born in Hollywood, Florida and lived there until I was three or four years old. Then I moved here to Missouri with my parents, sister, brother, and a few kitties. I went to school in Crane until fifth grade when my parents pulled me out to homeschool me. I bet you wouldn't even know I was homeschooled but since I told you, now you know. I graduated in 2012, and this is my second semester in college. Right now I'm just getting my general education out of the way... as if I didn't do enough of that in high school. I'm considering being an Ultrasound Technician, with the hopes of doing prenatal sonography. The other route I'm thinking about taking is law enforcement. No matter what I choose I want to love what I do. Having a nice, big paycheck would be great too, but happiness is my priority.
I have a boyfriend, Will, of about a year and a half. He is my best friend, and we do everything together. I got my first job about 2 and a half years ago, working at Subway. Will also started working there and it was a lot of fun. When our manager left, things weren't the same so we both quit Subway and now work at Wal-Mart.
I don’t have too many hobbies, considering I’m pretty busy with work and school but in my free time I love to draw. I guess you could say I’m good, but anyone can draw with a little practice. I can be pretty shy at first, and sometimes people mistake that for rude or snobbiness, but I promise, it’s neither of those. Everyone deserves a chance, so if you give me one, I’ll do the same for you!

Hi! I am a mother of 2 daughters and I have 2 grandchildren, 2 & 4 years old. My children and grandchildren are my world. I am married to a super great man that adores me and the kids too and would do anything for us and has always been that way. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and fish. I work full time. My position is very interesting. I serve through AmeriCorps at the Red Cross. I am a Volunteer Engagement Specialist and what that means is I get to interact with all the Volunteers that come in to the Red Cross. I do everything from speaking to them about different trainings available, teaching them 1st Aid/CPR/AED, to entering them into our computer system at the office, and much, much more.
It has been a very, very long time since I've been in school and it's been a really long time since I was in English Comp I so Comp II is going to be a little difficult for me, especially in the beginning. I want a college degree before I'm 50, which is a number that's right around the corner. There have only been a few members of my family that graduated High School and even fewer from college. I can only think of 2 so that makes me want this even more. I'm also hoping it shows other family members and my friends that it doesn't matter how long you've been out of school or how old you are a college degree is within reach.
Thanks for reading my blog and good luck this semester!

Lindsay Burkett- Intro
Greetings Y'all! I'm Lindsay Burkett, and I'm looking forward to a fun semester in this class! I am finishing up my last semester here at OTC to complete my AA for Transfer. What am i transferring for is what i have yet to decide.
I was sprouted in Arkansas, but have been right here in Missouri most of my adult life. I come from a humongous family which includes 4 brothers, 4 sisters and lots of extended members. As I always say- there was never a boring moment of my childhood. Today we are all scattered amongst the United States but keep in touch by social networking. Sometimes i wish i just had sis on a phone call instead of a Facebook lerker! But hey, we stay in touch and that is what is important these days.
I have well rounded interests and this seems to be a problem when picking a major. However, it becomes a handy tool in life. I am a music fanatic and will never stop attending Live music events. I listen to just about everything and appreciate that life allows me to learn about music through other people. Although, if you want to know my favorites, they are 311 and Blue October.
I love the Big Bang Theory, so much so that i keep episodes on the DVR at all times. Other than Big Bang, i rarely watch TV unless its the news or weather. (I'm a nerd) I like movies, however it takes having company for me to really enjoy them.
In my spare time i enjoy weekends filled with football; Arkansas Razorback, Dallas Cowboys and the Greenbay Packers preferably, but I won't hate if your team is winning! During the Spring and Summer, I enjoy being outside as much as possible. I spend a lot of time reading outside on my deck in the evening. My daytime addiction is Geocaching and Munzee-ing. Check them out! www.Geocaching.com and www.munzee.com

Shelby Hendrix - Introduction
Hello! My name is Shelby and I in currently in my second semester here at OTC. I was born here in Springfield and attended Horace Mann Elementary, Carver Middle School, and Kickapoo High School. As of right here I'm one of those people who is here just to get their "Gen Eds" since I don't exactly know what I want to do. High school history teaching is something I've recently started to consider and I'll probably start taking classes geared more toward that next semester, assuming I don't change my mind.
Through Elementary school my biggest hobby was basketball. In my free time I would spend hours outside just shooting baskets. In Middle school my older brother tried to convince me to stop playing basketball and take up running. He had hopes of making me into Kickapoo track and field prodigy and I had a realistic view of how good I was at basketball so I started running in seventh grade. In middle school I was an A team sprinter but in high school I was kind of forced into distance all because it's what my brother did. The first three years I was terrible, but something happened and I went from being in the bottom five of the Junior Varsity team I rose up to become a key member of the Mid distance team and did everything (but not limited to) the 400 meter dash to the 1600 meter race. I wish I would have accomplished this a little sooner but I can't complain.

Enough about me running track, there are other things in my life other than running. I have a loving mother and father along with two older brothers. I will gladly point out that I have outgrown bother of my brothers. I also have two dogs, a Border Collie named Lola and a Dachshund named Barkley. Lola is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet and Barkley won't shut up. I'll just tell you know, Lola is my favorite. My family and I often go to the lake for camping and various water sports... mostly just tubing though. When we go to the lake EVERYBODY comes, even the dogs. When my family isn't doing things together I have a few hobbies of my own that I do. As you already know I run, but I also bike, play basketball (when I feel like it), and where would any high school/college student be with out a PlayStation? The answer is probably on the honor role but we won't go there.
Like I mentioned earlier I'm starting my second semester here and am looking forward to the day I move on to MSU and then graduate. Until then I am looking forward this class and the rest of the time I have here at OTC. I look forward to getting into more interesting classes, meeting new people, and many other things.

Marvin J Pringle - Introduction
I was born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina where I lived with my mother, father and two brothers. I attended public school where I participated in a couple of sports and other activities. My fondest memory of high school was being told I had been selected to attend college on a football scholarship. Upon graduating from Sumter High School, I went on to Newberry College (NC) in Newberry, SC. The years spent at NC were great in that I learned not only book knowledge, but I also gained some life experiences that I didn't realize I had learned until later in my life. If there would be anything I would change about my college experience it would be my emphasis in my major. I too discovered I like teaching and I should have followed the teacher tract of my degree. At the time I was young and inexperienced and just wanted to get over with college and get out into the world. I graduated from NC with my Bachelors degree and headed out into the world only to find that the world was not as kind as I thought it to be. I couldn't find employment and I became frustrated. Upon talking to some family and friends, I decided to enlist in the US Army to gain much needed experience and discipline that I lacked. My plan was to do the initial four years, get out and move on with my life. Well my plan didn't quite go the way I planned it to go and I ended up re-enlisting and spent over 20 years in the US Army. While in the Army, I did and learned quite a few things that have stuck with me. I attended many military schools during my career, but the one I enjoyed the most was the Instructor Trainer Coures where I learned to teach and train the proper military way. This gave me an outlet to the part of me that enjoyed teaching. I have taught in and out of the military for a little more than 20 years. Since retirement from the military, I held a couple of federal contract jobs that I really enjoyed. However, due to the Congress's inability to finalize or stabilize the federal budget, I lost these positions and the skills I possess are not marketable here in this area. I am now here at OTC reinventing myself by pursuing a skill set that will make me marketable in this and many other areas.

Amanda Long - Intro
Hello there!
My name is Amanda, and I am on my way to getting a degree in cellular biology. I am originally from south Florida and have been here for five years. Most people always ask why I would stay in Missouri when I grew up on the beach, and the answer is always the same. I have a much younger brother and sister who live here in Springfield. We grew up twelve hundred miles apart, and now I cannot imagine not seeing them a few times a week! My brother is sixteen, and my sister is thirteen. They are incredibly annoying but also incredibly cool!
In just two months, I am marrying my very best friend. My fiancé and I live here in town with our dog Fiona, who is half pug-half mutt. She is named after the character in the book, "The Giver," not after "Shrek."
When I am not juggling working full-time, school, and planning a wedding, I also serve on the Board of Directors for a community center here in town. It is, by far, one of the most challenging things I have ever taken on, but I love every minute of it. The Center is where my heart is, and I feel so privileged to be able to serve the community.

Dustin Lambert - Intro
Good morning, my name is Dustin Lambert and this is my third year and last semester at OTC. I am the old guy sitting in the very back, chugging coffee and yawning. This is the second time in college, the first time was University of North Texas, broadcast journalism was my major. I did not allow any studying to get in the way of a good time at a very diverse liberal arts college and that turned otu to be a short-lived experience. I have worked in tattoo shops, wildlife conservation, and heaps of machine shops and construction. I began OTC in the culinary program but decided after two semesters that I absolutely hated it and began working toward a transfer degree for a Mortuary Science program, fun right? This is my last semseter here (Milwaukee or Ohio, havn't decided yet).
Besides school Im a boring guy most of the time I collect vinyl, enjoy live music, microbrews and drawing. This is the best picture I can be bothered to provide at the moment, Im not on Facebook and I'm not in the habit of taking pictures of myself. I think that should be just about 200 words. Ta-da
Leslie Blanco-Intro

I live at home with my older brother, my parents, my dog, and my new hamster. I absolutely adore my family and I am so happy that I was blessed to have them in my life. I am a very caring and genuine person and I hope you guys get to see that in me this semester. One of my passions in life is playing soccer. I have been playing soccer since I was in the 5th grade. I also love listening to music. My taste in music is very diverse. I am bilingual so I listen to a lot of Spanish music but I also like many other genres. I also enjoy basketball, reading, bowling, and like any other person I love having a good time.
I wish you guys well this semester and thank you for reading J.
David Campbell - Introduction
I was born in Berryville, Ar which is a small town located in Northwest Arkansas. Depending on your driving it is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes south of Springfield. Most all of my family live in Northwest Arkansas except for an uncle who lives in Florida and an aunt who lives in Colorado. I also have family in Vietnam that I have never met and probably will never meet. My mother is full Vietnamese and came over to the United States when she was thirteen years of age. My family is amazing and they all mean the world to me just as I mean the world to them also.
As a child all I could ever think about was serving my country and earning what all of the men and women died for protecting, the American dream and the rights that we still enjoy today. I joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2005 when I was seventeen years old and I am still serving today. The unit that I was currently in deployed to Iraq in 2008-2009. While deployed we provided convoy security to other military units while also providing security to private companies who were contracting in Iraq. Recently I transferred units and I am currently serving in 1-138th infantry regiment in the Missouri Army National Guard. I have been in the military for a total of seven years and I do not plan to get get out any time soon.
I have a fiance and we've been engaged for almost a year. We have been together for a total of three years and we also have a son named Logan. He is three months and three weeks old and is already wearing six to nine month old clothing. At birth he was 5lbs 15oz and is now 15lbs 2ozs, the boy loves to eat and is on track with every other boy his age. My fiance's name is Stacy and she is from Marshfield, MO. She is a wonderful stay at home mom who does an amazing job and also makes an amazing partner at tackling every day life.
I'm attending OTC with the goal of completing the 43-hour transfer block and then transferring to MSU. At MSU I'm going to earn my B.S. in exercise and movement, health studies. I will also earn my commission as an officer through ROTC and join the active duty side after graduation. I will be able to retire as an officer, hopefully a major, in fourteen years and earn 4,900 dollars a month doing nothing. Education paid for and a great health care plan for my son and fiancé.
Not to end this on a sad note but.. My niece, Amber, was diagnosed with leukemia when she was three years old and spent her fifth birthday in the hospital being treated. She fought cancer with a smile and won. Now she's eleven and is practically attached to my hip when I go home. Amber and her situation taught me to fight every day and to never give up..if someone that young and pure can win against cancer then there is no reason why I can't make it through what I face every day.
It's not letting me upload any photos right now but I'll post them when I can.

Lauren Bodine Introduction
About Me:
My name is Lauren Bodine, and this is my 5th semester at OTC. I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and then moved to Texarkana, Texas shortly after and lived there for 4 years. I call Springfield home, however I wish I was back in Texas. I am majoring in Nursing, and after this semester I am hoping to start Nursing School, if I get accepted. I love caring for people, and helping out those in need. I just have one sister who got married this past August, and her and her husband are expecting their first child! I am so excited to be an Aunt. I also have a boyfriend and have been with him for 3 years, I am so blessed! My family is the most important thing in my life. My parents are excellent role models in teaching me how to be a hard-worker to be successful. At my house there is one man in charge, and that is our silky terrier named Aidan. He is only 7 pounds but he has got full control over everything. I love to travel, if I could be anywhere it would be on the beach somewhere. This past summer all my family went on a cruise, and we had the time of our lives! If anyone has the opportunity to go, DO IT! I also love music, I’ll listen to almost any kind, but I definitely prefer country. I could listen to Luke Bryan all day long.

Autumn Kallsen - Intro
I'm from a very small town where people are the minority compared to cows, horses and other farm animals. Life was simple, slow and relaxing. Although I hated living in such a small town growing up I sometimes miss the simplicity of it now. I have a younger brother, whose hobby seems to be anything that annoys me. My boyfriend’s name is Matt and we have been together for five years. I moved to Springfield with him about a year ago so I could be closer to school and he could be closer to work.
I have one very large spoiled Shiloh Shepard puppy, who probably is to smart for his own good, named Rusty L. Shackle-ford, but Rusty for short. Although he is a 90 pound 9 month old puppy he seems to think that it’s acceptable to be a lap dog. I have invested a lot of time and money into him in hopes he will eventually graduate and become a therapy dog. Along with that monster of a dog we also have two ball pythons. Needless to say I’m a huge animal person and one day after I have my career I would love to open up a rescue.
Introduction- Traci Blume
My name is Traci Blume. I am 19 years old and I am from Republic, Missouri. I was born in Anaheim, California and moved to the Ozarks when i was 3 years old. I attended Republic schools from k-12 grade and I am now currently in my second semester here at OTC. Since i am from the area i see a lot of familiar faces here at school which is nice and makes it easier to adjust from high school.
I was very involved in the high school band at Republic. I was a member of the colorguard for 2 years and was the drum major my senior year. I made a lot of friends in band. I made friends that are forever friends. The band was like a 2nd family to me. I miss it a lot but I great memories and great friendships to remind me of the good times. I am very greatful for all the friends that I have made over the years.
I am blessed with the best family anyone could ask for. My family means the world to me, they know exactly how to cheer me up when i'm down. I am also blessed because I find my identity in Jesus Christ and I rely on Him to get me through tough situations. I would say i haven't had the smoothest path through life so far and i use God and my family to get through the situations that knock me down. One thing that i fight on a daily basis is my hair loss disease called alopecia. It isnt easy to know that i am losing my hair but I am reassured by the fact that I was created exactly how i am for a purpose.
Justin Mays' Introduction
Hey!
My name is Justin, but feel free to call me Tyler! I'm from Kansas City, MO and graduated from Blue Springs High School. I moved here in January, of last year, to go to Missouri State. I'm still a Missouri State Student, I'm just taking a few extra classes here at OTC.
I'm from a single-parent household and, until recently, am an only child. All through my life I have been a single child. It was just my mom and I, so life was pretty easy. About 5 years ago, my mom lost her job from the economy crash and life changed dramatically. Instead of worrying and stressing about finding another job, my mom went with her natural instincts and started back up at school. Through her social work, she got the urge to start foster parenting. (Can you tell where this is going?) Long story, very short, she adopted 6 kids in December of 2011.
The two boys in the picture on the right are DeShaun and Cody. On the left picture we have them, my other siblings, and mom - Stacy. The picture on the left, is supposed to be awkward! Everyone always asks why I am texting in it; it's simply because, in that picture, we're all doing what we're usually distracted by when my mom is trying to get our attention! Between Stephanie, Jasmine, David, Mya, Deshaun and Cody, our family can be a little crazy!
My life is pretty easy going now. I live on my own, pay my own bills, I live a fully self-supporting life. I just got into a job that I've been wanting for a year with the MO Department of Mental Health and it's really turning things around for me. I used to stress about bills getting paid, not having any spending money; basically, I had no life. I'm much happier now that I have a job that not only supports me, but supports me going to school and making something better of my individual life, vs them just caring about themselves.
Everything has pretty much calmed down for me here lately. I work, go to class, and hang out with friends. There's much more but it'd take too long and I'd get tired of typing! (;
Hope to get to meet ya' and make some more friends!

Amber Campbell- Introduction
I'm an adventurer. My hobbies include, but aren't limited to, hiking, biking, wakeboarding, camping, and thrifting. I am always up for trying new things and I absolutely love to travel. My favorite food is a tie between sushi and tortitas con huevos. I was born in Houston, Texas but I'm not a Texan. I came to Springfield when I was 2. I have a little sister, who's 17 and wants to be an interpreter for the def. I also have an older brother who is now at OTC, about to be a nurse. I also have a retriever. His name is Grover and he doesn't know he's a dog. Sweetest thing in the world, very well behaved.
When I move out, I plan to adopt a teacup pig and name him Carl. I'm at OTC on A+, getting my gen eds out of the way before pursuing psychology somewhere warmer. I would like to minor in creative writing, but that'll probably change a few more times before I actually get to a four-year college. I am very passionate about nonprofits. I'm involved with several in town, but right now I work part-time at Ozarks Counseling Center, a nonprofit that offers good quality counseling to the community regardless of inability to pay. I love making new friends but I'm painfully awkward. I'd like to consider it part of my charm! Glad to be in class, can't wait to meet you all!

Introduction - Chantelle Lamb
Hello! My name is Chantelle Lamb! I am nineteen, I will be twenty in April. I am a proud and devoted mommy of a one year old, Braxen Lee. His birthday was two days ago! He definitely is my motivation and keeps me going each and every day! I did have him pretty young but that just means that I will be able to spend more time with him in the long run! I am full time student here at OTC, and this is my second semester as well. My plan is to get my general education courses finished here at OTC and then transfer to MSU to receive my bachelor's degree. I have recently just changed my major from education to social work. I really want to be a case worker for adolescent boys and girls that have been raped, abused or neglected. I stay very busy with 12 hours of school, 35 hours of work and trying to soak up all the time I get with my little man. Family and friends are a huge part of my life and I honestly can say I don't know where I would be without them today. I am an only child but my mom and I are the best of friends! Even though I am an only child I do have a sister but we just aren't blood and her name is Ashleigh. She is blonde and silly just like I am. I have known her for years and really have looked up to her my whole life. In my spare time, which doesn't happen very often, I love to play slow pitch softball. I played fast pitch softball since I was eight and I still enjoy to get on the field because it brings back such great memories. Well, I wish all you luck on furthering your education and I hope you have an amazing semester!

Alexandria Gibson Intro
Cory Hansen ENG Comp 102 -117 Introduction
Hey guys, my name is Cory Hansen. I was born in Springfield Missouri on October 16th 1993. I have a little sister who is four years younger than me. I went to Portland Elementary school till I was in 5th grade. Then I went to middle school in Springfield for one semester. Then my parents moved to a place called Pleasant Hope, Missouri. That place blows. I finished middle school and high school there. I am happy to be going to OTC now!

My interests include music and movies and politics and stuff like that. I have a lot of songs on my iPod. I like nearly all genres of music, but I think my favorite genre is Indie Rock. I am in a one man band called Nice Orange Pants. I am in the process of recruiting more musicians to join the band. I am thinking about changing the name of it, but I haven't decided for sure yet.
I like bringing snacks to class. I work for Walmart part time as a cart pusher. It really sucks sometimes, but it keeps me in shape at least. I am going to OTC in order to attain my Associate of Arts transfer degree. Once I get that, I am planning on transferring to MSU or some other similar place to get a Bachelor’s degree in something.
Kody Gideon-Introduction
Good morning everyone! My name is Kody Gideon and I'm an alcoholic. No not really but I feel that saying something off the wall is a great way to make your introduction memorable. This is my third semester at Otc and I'm eager to get it completed. I'm 20 years old and I'm pursuing a degree in music composition. I've been playing guitar and writing music since I was 15 years old and since then it's been my dream to make a living doing what I love. As Brad Paisley says, being a musician is the the only job in the world where going to work means going to play. My love of music started when I was a young child, I have memories of being 5 years old and singing along to every Alan Jackson song on the radio with my dad. Even from that time I knew that a music career was exactly what I wanted. My musical influences of course wavered as I aged but in the last couple years have returned to a love of old style country. Music is my primary hobby and nearly 24/7 I'm either playing, composing or listening to it. I spend anywhere from 3-10 hours a day with a guitar in my hands and it drives my poor girlfriend nuts when she wants some attention. I currently reside in Republic, Mo and all of not spent in class or playing music is spent at Walgreens, where I am a photo specialist and I'm excited to say that I love my job.
I'm also a father of 1, I have a ten month old daughter named Keeley, "Shes my sweet little thing, my pride and joy. " I often just stare at her in amazement, my little girl looks just like i did as a child and it fascinates me how intelligent she is. It seems like she shares my love of music. She can't speak yet but she tries her hardest to mumble the vocal melody to the music she loves and I spend too much time banging out rhythms just for my munchkin to respond to.
I also have quite the interesting family life, I have a brother named Jessy, who I've nicknamed Spanky, the name suits him so well that often people take it as his real name, even our parents have adopted it. If we weren't brothers he would probably be my best friend. We've had our share of tough times but always pull together and we have an almost psychic connection. I'm not share what else to say about myself in this brief amount of words, but I will say that I often provide too much information and nothing is sacred, or taboo to me so I apologize in advance if i say anything that may offend someone, that is never my intent. I look forward to a speedy semester and learning more about all of you! If you have any questions just feel free to ask

About Me
I am a native Kansan although I have been in Missouri since 1990. I come from a large family where I have nine brothers and sisters. I am married and now enjoying my life long dream to be a teacher. I went to college after my two children were grown and the financial burden of raising a family eased. I enjoy learning new and interesting things. I was self employed in several businesses before deciding to get an education. I received a Bachelors of Science degree from Missouri Southern in Joplin. In 2009 I completed my master's degree through Missouri State. I wrote my master's thesis on using technology in the classroom to increase student motivation and performance. For four years I taught English to juniors and seniors in a small rural school. This semester marks my third year here at OTC.

I love life and many times wish there were more hours in a day. I have many interests. I enjoy gardening, swimming, hunting, reading, watching movies, South Park, old rock 'n roll, traveling, learning new things, and many others. One of the greatest joys of my life has been the births of my granddaughters Kelea and Sheridan.
